During the auction week, which also had the Euthanasia Clinic, we were
unable to send out an E-news, so we will be covering the last couple of
weeks in this E-news.
All of the fundraisers are currently completed. The
euthanasia clinic was fully funded the night before the clinic, the 4
stall barn fundraiser was completed today, and the auction fundraiser
was completed before the auction. Thank you so very much!
We would not in any way wish to discourage you from donating, our
general operating fund always needs donations to help pay for
miscellaneous day to day expenses, hay, feed, supplements, vet care,
etc. The list of "small" needs is overwhelming.
The auction was a great success thanks to generosity of
caring people such as yourself and the hard work of our staff and
volunteers. A total of 13 equines were rescued from the Roseville
Livestock Auction and safely brought to the rescue for evaluation,
rehabilitation, and adoption. The day after the auction a
wonderful group of highly motivated and knowledgeable volunteers, under
the guidance of our new volunteer coordinator, Jessie, came out to do
assessment of the horses. They have called their group P.A.T.T.
for Post Auction Assessment Team. They are planning on coming
after each auction to do a quick initial evaluation, check for injuries,
get height, tag the horses, pull shoes and gi ve
trims, and generally make the horses feel comfortable after the auction.
While the PATT's were working with the auction horses Lippy Conner
just had to get his two cents worth of information in. He couldn't
stand still and let other horses have all the fun of getting their feet
trimmed. Click
here to see Lippy Conner talking about feet trimming.
There was
a terrible accident near Napa valley that hit us hard. Early
Wednesday morning Moonlight, Goldy and 3 other horses were killed in a
tragic accident, along with the driver of the vehicle.
Click here to read a news report. Moonlight and Goldy were
adopted from NorCal Equine Rescue. Mark
Trupiano
was
tragically killed in the accident after the vehicle he was
driving collided with the horses. He leaves behind 2 children and a
wife. His employer is accepting donations to help his family out. You
can mail a donation to help out the family in this time of loss and/or
you can send a sympathy card to:

that were tragically killed,

Mr T, the goat, had to go to the vet this week. No, Mr T was
not ill, but a little goat at the vet that desperately needed a blood
transfusion. The poor little goat was so weak it could barely lift its
head. A blood transfusion was the last hope of saving its life. After Mr
T donated blood of course he got his blood donor cookie. The blood
transfusion was not rejected by the little goat and by mid afternoon it
was holding its head up, was alert, and had a good appetite. What a
great gift Mr T! You too can be as cool as Mr T, next time you see a
blood drive, donate some blood, it could be the difference between life
and death.
The following are the auction horses that were rescued at the
livestock auction this month. Again, thank you for donating the
gift of life and love by your financial donation this month towards the
auction rescue.
