Special Notice!

Some of you may have heard about the ZooToo Million Dollar Shelter Makeover. We are not running in this makeover contest, but we received an email from Dawn, one of Habitat for Horses' volunteers. Tawnee asked her to write up an email just for our blog/e-news and she wrote: "We really need the help to keep in the top 20 to move on to the next division of the contest, which is the shelter visit! Please join us at http://www.zootoo.com/makeover. When you get there you need to register and use Habitat for Horses as your shelter and rescue and the zip code is 77563. This contest is for a Million Dollar Shelter Makeover. If we can win we could help so many more equines have a better life! Rescue them from going to slaughter, abuse, neglect, starvation and the list goes on and on as we both know. Visit Zootoo and show us pics and videos of your beautiful babies, make comments on news articles, play pet wars, review products and services, answer questions and all these help us accumulate points to stay in the top 20."

There are only 8 days left in this part of the contest and Habitat for Horses is in 16th place and has 397,756 points. We believe that Habitat for Horses does a great work and so we would like you to vote for them. They were hit by a terrible storm last year and lost a lot of their facilities. This makeover would help them out a lot.

On eBay!

Today is the last day that you can bid on our Antique Smith-Corona Sterling typewriter.

It is currently at $305, let's hope several wealthy people want it very badly and are all waiting for the last minute. Even if not, we are very thankful for the funds that it will bring, and that it has been a successful fundraising effort. Click here, let's get a bidding war going on!

It has had 27 bids so far and we would like to thank everyone who has bided on this typewriter.

All of the funds will be used for the horses!

This Week's Review

Lippy Conner has some new video on YouTube. In one of his videos he insisted that he get a carrot. Jason grabbed the video camera and recorded the action. Click Here to watch "Lippy Conner Loves Carrots" it is really cute.

This week Haul Your Horse signed up as a  sponsor, advertising on the left menu bar on our website. They offer a great service: horse trailer rentals! We have had dozens of people asking "Where can we rent a trailer?" So far our best response has been "Uh, hmmm, err, U-haul?" Their rates seem very reasonable, and they have horse trailers available for rent throughout California and Oregon. Click here to visit their site.

Show Dressed Up has generously donated a $125 gift certificate good towards the purchase of one of their beautiful show shirts. The gift certificate will be included in the silent auction at the Skating Party, June 24th. Show Dressed Up's items run from $19.99 to $125.00, so this gift certificate could get you a really amazing western show shirt. Click here to visit their website, and plan on coming to the skating party, bidding, dreaming, and getting your new show shirt. You too can give gift certificates, small items, large items, whatever you feel would help bring funds in to save horses at the silent auction. Just send them to us!

The LA Times ran an article about how the economy is affecting horses, and had a few paragraphs near the end of the article about us. We would like to thank all of the media for the exposure that helps raise awareness for horses in need! Click here for the article.

This Week's Currents Needs

March Auction Rescue Fund:  This Sunday we are going to Roseville Livestock Auction to save horses.  So far we have raised $3,589.00 leaving only $1,411 left to raise.

So many horses are losing their homes due to the economy - every 5 minutes an American horse is slaughtered.

If you feel impressed to help save the unlucky horses that end up at auction yards, please help us, help the horses. Click here for more info.

This Week's Adoptions

This week we had one adoption, with all the rain, flooding and all in all bad weather, adopters found it hard to make it out. We have a lot of horses in adoption pending and Claire has been working hard on getting the adoption applications processed.

Countess was adopted and transported to her new home, her new mommy is so happy to have her. It always makes us so happy when horses find their loving homes.

So far this year we have saved 73 equines!

Help us save more horses from abuse, slaughter and starvation.
