This Week's News

This week was a great week, horses were rescued, horses found their forever homes, all in all a great week.

Jason worked on the rescues tax return.  The IRS enjoys their paperwork, they have significantly reworked the 990 form, making it more complex and time consuming.  In between everything else he also made a new video, which you can view by clicking here. It's a short video about the rescue at Cowtown Horse and Livestock Auction last Sunday.

Tawnee started feeling ill on Saturday, and with a long auction rescue day on Sunday, it put her over the brink.  She took Monday and Tuesday off of work, but by Wednesday afternoon she was well enough to go outside for a bit, and then has been busy on the computer ever since working on the E-news.  The rescue sure did miss her while she was out of commission, she is certainly an integral part of the team effort.

Claire and Ron continued their part time efforts for the rescue.  Claire plugged away at emails, answered the phone, and showed horses.  Ron picked up horses, delivered horses to their new homes, caught an abandoned horse in a large pasture, evaluated horses and showed horses to potential adopters.

The horses at the rescue are all doing well.  Two studs were gelded this week, and two more were taken out to be gelded.

It has been raining off and on all week.  It is always nice to have rain, even though the mud and cold is a challenge, but soon the lush green grass will cause us to forget all about the rainstorms.

This Week's Rescues

Sunday morning Jason hooked the truck and trailer up and Tawnee headed out to the auction. Tawnee was feeling sick, and was tempted to take the day off and send someone else to the auction, but she decided to trudge through the day.

After the auction Tawnee and volunteers Becky, Amber, Brianna, and Kim, headed out to meet the new rescued equines. We rescued 11 total. One of our previous adopters was there and rescued another horse for herself. One of our approved adopters bought a horse there as well. So, in all, that's 13 horses saved out of 37 thanks to NorCal Equine Rescue and our friends.

This Week's Currents Needs

Only $644 left to raise!

In one week we will be have our next euthanasia clinic.  This clinic allows owners of horses that need to be allowed to pass on gently, with love and compassion, the opportunity to give their beloved equine pet the ultimate last gift of kindness: a peaceful death.  These horses otherwise may have no other places to go other than being sold for slaughter, abandoned, or being starved to death.

Each month we hold a free euthanasia clinic for horses. Each horse that is brought to the clinic is evaluated by our staff and veterinarian for its quality of life and adoptability. If the equine has a good quality of life and is adoptable, we bring it into our rescue organization and do our best to find it a new home.

Remember that your donation of love will immediately be doubled. To donate via Paypal, click here. To donate via Network for Good, click here.

We only need $644 to be able to have our clinic., but remember that all that all the funds are being matched dollar to dollar.  That means that we only need $322 in donations and we will met our goal!

Remember that all the horses are evaluated for adoptability and if adoptable they will come into our adoption program.

This Week's Adoptions

The following equines were adopted into loving homes this week. Let us hope that this coming week will feature even more equines finding their forever families! They are: Red Eye and Hartford.

So far this year we have rescued 64 equines!
