The poll has been finalized:
weekly E-News has won by a long shot. We will be doing our best to send out a
weekly e-news, it should be sent out on Wednesday night or Thursdays. We look
forward to keeping you more informed about the happenings at your favorite horse
rescue.
This week we received our first ever S.H.A.R.E.S. card check. What happens is
when you present your card to a checkout clerk at groceries stores, they donate
3% of your purchase to us! The check was for almost $80, thanks to all of you
who swipe your cards while you shop.
If you would
like a shares card, please email us your mailing address, but please be honest
and only ask for one if you actually want to use it. If you have a family member
or friend that would like to use one, you can ask for more than one. They are
valid at SaveMart, Lucky, FoodMaxx and S-mart. All you have to do is shop, hand
them your card, and 3% of your purchase goes to the rescue. Every $100 you spend
is $3 for the rescue. It really adds up!
We still have about 150 cards left, so feel free to ask for one.
Our first members have signed up! You too can become a NorCal Equine Rescue
member, just visit our donate page, select "Membership" and start the $50
monthly membership to become a member. Please remember to make sure you do not
select "anonymous" when you are signing up to become a member as we will not be
able to send you the benefits of being a member if we do not know who you are.
Someone did sign up anonymously, please let us know who you are. What are the
benefits? The primary benefit is the horses will have a reliable source of hay
money, the immediate benefit to you is that you will receive the daily blog in
your email as soon as it is written. We have a few more gift packs ready for the
next few people that sign up, so hurry and

This Week's Rescues
Jason
and Tawnee
left Sunday morning long before the sun was up, they were up preparing to go to
an auction they had never visited before to save horses, the
Cowtown Horse
Auction in Turlock.
They were very curious to see how many horses where there, how many Kb's were
there, and to scope out the auction. All in all the
management
seems to be doing a good job of keeping the facilities safe for horses. But of
course there were all the out of state trucks and trailer. With no
anti-slaughter laws being enforced in California, and no check stations going
out of state, the KB's
float in and out of California at will, sending hundreds of California horses to
slaughter each month.
They arrived in
Turlock and checked into a motel. Then, since Tawnee pulls negative vibes
from auctioneers and kb's, Jason went to the auction while Tawnee waited for it
all to be over. Jason sat on the hard little seats for over 6 hours while horse
after horse went through. In the end Jason spent more money than had been
donated for February auctions, but he saved 10 lives. To read more about this

This Week's Currents
Needs
Only $2,695 left to raise! We can do this!
We
need your help to make the Roseville Auction Rescue a reality. Every month for
some time now we have been visiting Roseville, keeping the price above what the
scavenging killer buys are willing to pay, and have rescued many many equines
from that auction. This month, more than ever, we need your help. We have spent
a significant portion of the months auction donations rescuing at a new auction,
Turlock (pictured left,) where we rescued 9 horses and
1
donkey. Our donation goal this month is $5000.00 for the rescue and care of the
auction horses.
Horses are being dumped at auctions in droves. The auction donations are
currently at $2305. We currently have room at the rescue for 10-15
more horses, we just need some money to be able
to bring
them
to safety! We can save them from the cruel
fate of slaughter, give them the best possible chance of finding a forever home.
Please donate what you can, and please forward this email on to all of your
friends, letting them know you support the rescue of horses in need. Even $5
will make a huge difference and will make the thermometer rise right on up to
the top. Only you
can make
this happen.
This Week's Adoptions
The following equines were
adopted into loving homes this week. Let us hope that this coming week will
feature even more equines finding their forever families! They are: Clarance, the donkey rescued from Sunday's Turlock auction.
Hit a Homer Honey (not pictured,) and Ghost in the House,
two TB's that came to the euthanasia clinic who qualified for adoption and were
brought into the rescue. Sugar, a pony that came from a dude ranch. She has found a great
family to spoil her and she will be great for their grandkids! Midnight Cowgirl, she was rescued from auction and found her forever
home this week as well. Wonka was rescued by Agent X at Orland Livestock Auction, she was
taken to auction due to a bankruptcy. She has now found her forever home.
So far this year
we have saved 47 equines!
Help us save more horses from abuse, slaughter and starvation.
