 Hello Fellow Horse Lovers!
We have 20 horses that are up for adoption or will be very soon!
We have been very busy with all the horses, caring for them, rescuing them and delivering them to their new homes. We were in and out of the ranch so much that some of the phone calls and emails were not replied to, as our first responsibility is to care for the horses then do emails and phone calls. Please accept our apologizes.

Blazin' Brazy - Our Orphan Foal

Brazy's Story: We were rescuing horses from a Nevada horse slaughter feedlot. We arrived at the feedlot and were led to a horse trailer and shown a 4 week old orphan foal. Brazy had been shipped out from Texas with about 30 or so other horses. Her mother was left behind at the ranch.  Brazy  had been trampled in the long trip from Texas to Nevada. When they were unloading the horses at the feedlot she was one of the first to come out of the trailer. She stood there scared not knowing what to do. The other remaining horses in the trailer saw the open trailer door and started stampeding out of the trailer. They pushed the little foal down and she was trampled and ran over by about 25 horses.   We discovered scars and wounds all over her tiny body. She stood still and let us touch her... We have decided that Critter Pass Ranch - www.SaveTheCritters.org would foster this little baby and could begin the process of earning her trust and caring for her wounds-inside and out.

Sponsors Needed! Brazy needs sponsors to help pay for her special feed and care while she is at NER. If you become a sponsor you will receive pictures, updates and be one of the first to know when she goes up for adoption. For only $0.85 a day you can a be a part of helping Brazy through this hard time in her life. Your sponsorship will help pay for Brazy's milk, feed, care, vet bills, etc.

Help Feed The Horses!

Help us feed the horses!  NER goes through 6 - 10 tons of hay each month and the more horses we rescue the more hay we need. We can get 3 twined hay, grass or alfalfa depending on the needs of the horses, at $8.50 a bale. We are hoping that you will buy a bale or 2 or become a "Hay Sponsor" even if it's a bale a month. All you have to do is donate and we'll do all the hard work of getting the hay, bringing it to the ranch and unloading it. You really do have the easy part of this.  Every bale is definitely  needed and will be enjoyed by a rescued horse. Every hay bale will raise the thermometer and bring us closer to the goal for this month.  The hay is about half the price then it is at the feed store and the more money that is saved from the high prices of hay will help save more horses that are out there just waiting for someone to save them and give them the love they so badly need. Please let us know if you would like to become a "Hay Sponsor".

News

We have so much news to tell you.  First NER has saved 107 horses so far this year! That means that we have saved over 260 horses, donkeys, ponies and mules since we started rescuing these wonderful animals!  We would like to thank each one of you that did what they could to make this possible.
Feedlot Rescues -  Our new Feedlot Horses website has been a great success. Please go to www.FeedlotHorses.com and become a part of the rescue efforts.  Since the website has been posted on the internet we have saved 57 horses and 1 donkey from slaughter!  The website was posted on 8/22/07 so it has been going for just over a month now.
When funds are raised to save the horses, we buy the horses from the feedlot and then the rescued horses are transferred to horse rescues.  So far in the last month 10 of the horses have come to NER and the others have been taken to other horse rescues so they also can be adopted into loving homes.
If you would like to be updated about the great work we are doing to save slaughter bound horses go to www.FeedlotHorses.com and sign up for the feedlot e-news or please press reply and type "Feedlot Horses" and push send and we will start sending you updates about the
slaughter bound horses.
Look Ahead Vet - Look Ahead Veterinary Hospital has become a sponsor! They give us a discount of 40% for all veterinary needs we have. A big thank you to Look Ahead Vet!
Wal-Mart - Our local Wal-Mart is donating all their broken bags of  horse feed to NER now! We get about 1 cart full of feed a week. This really helps out on our feed bills and we cannot thank them enough.
A Doggies Rescue - NER's purpose is to rescues equine, but we are all animal lovers here and try to help any animal that is in true need. NER founder Tawnee was on her way to town when she saw a poor dog sitting by a trash pile along the road. She says "All I could do was hope that she was just passing through on her way home and was resting there, but 2 hours later on my way back to the ranch she was still there".  "Shadow" is very friendly and is needing a home. NER has turned Shadow over to Critter Pass Ranch - They are a great rescue and would greatly appreciate any support, they have 97 animals in their care right now. Please go to www.SaveTheCritters.org to learn more. They are working on getting their 501(c) 3 but as of yet cannot give tax-deductible receipts.
