Hello fellow horse lovers! We have
11 new horses at our rescue. 2 came from Merced County Animal Control,
6 came from a feedlot in Nevada, 1 came from an auction and 2 yearling Paso Finos were running loose near Vacaville, CA. Freckles was adopted back in March
and then her adopter tried to sell her, but thankfully the bad adopter was
caught!

Pride is back as his adopter
is now expecting a child, she is no longer able to spend the time she wanted to
with him. Luv'n was rescued from an auction.
Missy Mouse and Go Spot Go were rescued by Merced County Animal Control and given to NER.
NER #'s 291-296 were rescued from a feedlot, they were to be sent to
slaughter but they are safe now! Luna and Campeon were running loose and
were going to have to be shot if we didn't save them.
We have been so busy with the horses we don't have the info about them on
our website yet, but we do have more pictures of them and will have the info up
as soon as we can. Feel free to call us to find out info about a horse if you
are interested in one, our office number is 530-534-7742. |

Draft Dodger |
Draft Dodger was adopted into a home back on June 22nd and is
now back at our rescue.
Draft Dodger was having trouble in his new home. He started
kicking and in one week he kicked 4 people, 2 went to the
hospital, one with broken ribs and another with a concussion. He
has
never kicked any NER staff, when our trainer was working with
him he tried, but she corrected his actions. With all the horses and only one trainer
the NER's Board of Directors (BOD) has made the decision that we will try to find a
good horse trainer to adopt him to that can work with him and give
him the time that he needs or a person that will adopt him and
find a horse trainer to work with him. He is starting to lead
but will need to be taken from ground zero. His adoption fee has
been waved as the NER's BOD feels that the funds that would have
been his adoption fee would be better used for Draft Dodger's
schooling. If you feel that you would be qualified to adopt
Draft Dodger and give him the training that he needs or know of
someone, please let us know.
The Monty Roberts International
Learning Center offered to take him into their
annual 'Special
Class' coming up next month (August 6-10th) but we would need a
volunteer to take him there and bring him back when the class is
over. It is about
450 miles from NorCal Equine Rescue to
Monty Roberts International Learning Center,
which would take the total traveling about 1800 miles.
If you would be interested please let us know ASAP. Thank You!

Help Feed The Horses! |
If you have been getting our e-news mailings for long, you know that we are
saving
a lot of horses and here is your chance to help by buying hay. We can get 3 twined hay,
grass or alfalfa depending on the needs of the horses, at
a mere $8.50 a bale. NER goes
through 6 - 10 tons of hay each month and the more horses we
rescue
the more hay we need.
We need about 150 bales for this month. With 17 horses in our rescue we feed a
lot of hay. Some of the feedlot horses are thin and need extra rations of hay. We are
hoping that you will buy a bale or 2. All
you
have to do is donate the money to pay for as many bales as you
feel impressed
to donate, whether it be 1 or all. Every bale is definitely
needed and will be enjoyed by a rescued horse. Every hay
bale will raise the thermometer and bring us closer to the goal for this month.
The hay is about half the price then it is at the feed store and the more
money that is saved from the high prices of hay will help save
more horses that are out there just waiting for someone to save
them and give them the love they so badly need. |
