We are currently full.
We need you to do your part of helping to save horses by adopting one of these
horses just waiting for a second chance so we can save more. We have 7 horses
saved from a feedlot that were headed to a slaughterhouse, the only reason they
are alive is because we saved them. Four of the horses are young and need to be
started, with some rewarding work they can become the horse of your dreams.

Horse
Slaughter |

Horse
Slaughter is over in the United States! But horses are still being shipped to
Canada and Mexico. This new law has made the Killer Buyers very nervous,
for years they have made $$ by the blood of our best friends, and now they know
their end is coming near. Passage of the American Horse Slaughter
Prevention Act (AHSPA), introduced as H.R. 503 and S. 311 (A bill to amend the
Horse Protection Act to prohibit the shipping, transporting, moving, delivering,
receiving, possessing, purchasing, selling, or donation of horses and other
equines to be slaughtered for human consumption, and for other purposes), is the
only way to insure horses are not shipped to slaughter plants in Mexico and
Canada. Killer Buyers are posing as sincere horse buyers, loving grandparents,
and even families buying their first horse, looking for cheap horses and flocking to the auction yard, in
hopes to make the last bit of their green stuff with no concern for the lives
of our friends. If you are selling your horse, please check the buyer before
signing the horse over to the buyer. Ask for references, vets, farriers,
friends, etc. if the buyer seems hesitant for any reason, it is probably a red
flag. If you have to get your horse into a new home ASAP, don't lower his
price or give him away. Contact a horse rescue and consider donating your horse
to a horse rescue, to help
ensure that your beloved horse doesn't end up on a
plate in a high class restaurant.
We are praying that United State's horses will be protected from
slaughter soon, that day is coming very soon but until that day we all must do
everything we can protected United State's horses from slaughter in Mexico
and Canada.
The feedlot where we rescued 8 horses (5 are still available) back
in March, is buying up horses left and right and is not letting anyone
buy (including rescues) his horses other then slaughterhouses. He is
shipping two semi trucks out a week to Canada. Fortunately there were just too many
horse to fit into one of the trailers. Rescues were contacted and the horses are
safe. Two of them have come into our rescue and are now looking for new homes. |

Help Feed The Horses!
|
Our first annual Hay May Days fundraiser has now become
the "Help Feed The Horses!" there will be a hay bale
thermometer on our home page that will show how
many bales we need for that month. If the mount of bales
are not raised for that month have no fear, the horses
will still be getting the food they need, but it does
sadly mean that some horses will not be saved as the
money will be spent for hay instead of saving their
lives. We wish we could save them all but we are hoping
that this will help provide the means to allow more horses to be saved. |
|
|
As you can
imagine we uses a lot of hay and we need you to help do your
part of saving horse by helping to buy feed. We can get 3 twined hay,
grass or alfalfa depending the needs of the horses, at
a mere $8.50 a bale. NER goes
through about 6 tons each month and the more horses we
rescue
the more hay we need.
We need about 90 to 100 bales for this month. We hoping that you
will buying a bale or 2. All
you
have to do is donate the money to pay for as many bale s as you
feel impressed
to donate, whether it be 1 or all. Every bale is definitely
needed and will be enjoyed by a rescued horse. Every hay
bale will raise the thermometer and bring us closer to the goal.
The hay is about half the price then it is at the feed store and the more
money that is saved from the high prices of hay will help save
more horses that are out the just waiting for someone to save
them and give them the love they so badly need. |
