| Notice: We want to apologize for any inconvenience that the move to
our new 10 acre rescue facility might have caused you. We had
very limited internet and phone access as we worked to get the
new facility up and going. We did our best to reply to all the
emails and return phone calls. We continued to be
extremely busy rescuing equines as this e-news will show.
Thanks for your patience! |

The Hay May Days |
|
This is our
first annual Hay May Days fundraiser. It's the time of year
again
that the hay is being cut and fresh hay is for sale. As you can
imagine NER uses a lot of hay and we have the opportunity to get
hay delivered for a very good deal. 3 twined meadow grass hay at
a mere $8.50 a bale delivered for large quantities. We would
need a semi track load of hay, about 25 tons of hay, a total of
about 400 bales. NER goes through about 70 tons of
hay a year and the more horses we rescue the more hay we need.
NER is counting on you to help do your part of helping to save
horses by donating the money to help pay for the hay. All you have
to do is donate the money to pay for as many bales as
you like to donate, whether it is 1 or all. Every bale
is definitely needed and will be enjoyed by a rescued horse. On our home page at
www.SaveTheHorse.com there will
be a Paypal donation button that will allow you to donate as
many hay bales as you would like. There will also be a fundraiser hay
bale thermometer so can see where we are in the Hay May Days.
The hay is about half the price as at the feed store and the more
money that is saved from the high prices of hay will help save
more horses that are out the just waiting for someone to save
them and give them the love they so badly deserve. |

Charlie Boy |
|
Charlie Boy became a long term rehab resident of NER when he
came to us back in October 2006 with a body score of -1. We
really didn't know if he was going to make it he, was so
emaciated. He was in very serious condition
and we were very concerned about his future.
After a long rehab Charlie Boy has been adopted and place in his
new forever home. One of his sponsors adopted him on Mother's
Day. It was really hard to say good-bye to this horse that we
had nursed back to health from one that was almost
dead. Charlie Boy was all bones when he came to us and we
watched him regain his strength and
enjoy life to the fullest.
NER staff will miss this amazing horse that was able to almost
touch death, yet was able to conquer it!

New Rescue
Facility |
|
NER staff has
been working harder then ever getting our rescue facility in running order, it is
still not done by any stretch of the imagination
but we are making progress. The round pen now has sand in it,
the 4 acre pasture is becoming smaller as we are making smaller
pens for individual horses. We also have a 12' x 20' tack room.
We have been putting water lines in and so much more. It
is coming a long beautifully. There are so many items needed to get the new facility in perfect
working order, but we know that with time and your support it will all come
together. The number 1 thing on the need list is an office where the computers,
printers, files, etc. can be safely kept and so adopters can do
the necessary paper work for adopting a horse without it
blowing away. We hope to have the funds to be able to get the
office soon. We want to thank everyone that has given there
support to NER it would not be the same without you. If everyone
does what he or she can, then much will be accomplished. |
