We
have 25 American Saddlebreds counting on us to give them a new start...
A breeder in
N.TX is going out of business. He's an older guy, who recently had a
stroke that has left him nearly blind. He decided that the last of his
horses had to go ASAP. He planned to let them go to the first party
that would come and get them (sight unseen) for a bulk price. We all
know that there's only one type of buyer that would be interested in
that type of situation… I’ve negotiated for him to sell them to us
instead. We have to pay him and move them off of his property on/by New
Years Day. The plan is to move them directly to a holding facility, and
stage them out to rescues/fosters/adopters from there.
Phase I of this
rescue will be to raise funds to secure them, transport them to the
holding facility, and feed them for 90 days. We may need to come back
later (Phase II) to raise funds for transport to various
rescues. Here's what we need by 1/1/08:
25 horses @
$300/each $ 7,500
Transport to holding
facility $ 4,500
Feed for 90
days $ 500
Total (Phase
I) $12,500
This
breeder is in a remote area, but I have someone heading out there to
take photos and “inventory” them. Photos should be available around
Christmas.
This is a BIG rescue, but WE ARE
UNSTOPPABLE!!!
