Hello Fellow Horse Lovers!
Wow, we have been getting busier than ever. We currently have 38 horses in our program right now, our feed bill is huge!
We have leased 30 acres, 10 irrigated acres about 18 miles from our main facility and 20 acres right next to our main facility.  NER now consists of 40 acres. Jason, co-founder of NER, was threatened that he would be punched out for a week by a mad auctioneer worker. Read below for more...

Roseville Livestock Auction

Some of NER staff went to Roseville Livestock Auction on November 11th. Many of you may recall the horrific auction rescue experience back in June of 2006, we did not use the auctions name then but we will now, it was Roseville Livestock Auction here's a link to the e-news to refresh your memory, Click-Here.  On the 11th of this month we planned on saving some more horses from an unknown fate, but while quietly sitting near the top row of the auction room, NER staff Jason, Tawnee and Kimmy were shocked and surprised to suddenly be confronted by an obviously upset and distraught auctioneer, Matt. His loud tirade, which attracted the attention of the entire audience, consisted of threats, insults, foul language and demands to immediately leave the property. He said that the video that is on our website is slandering Roseville Livestock Auction. Click here to watch the video. Jason calmly and firmly asked if the auctioneer was the owner, and he denied being the owner but insisted he is “the boss.” Jason requested to be allowed to discuss the situation further with the owner of the property. After a lot of profanity, “The boss” took Jason and Tawnee to the office and left to find the real owner. An older guy came back with “the boss” and immediately, in a very angry tone yelled “We don’t need your kind here, get out now! OUT!” Tawnee asked to be able to retrieve our items that were left in the auction ring and was told, “No, out!” Politely insisting, Tawnee was finally allowed to retrieve our items. The older guy was yelling and screaming, and he grabbed a couple of the auction workers to help “escort” Jason from the property. At one point, the older man got right in Jason’s face, looked passed the 9 month old infant Jason was holding in his arms, and yelled “I’m going to punch you in the face and knock you out for a week. If you ever come back to this auction you won’t be leaving standing up.” While Tawnee and Kimmy where heading out to the truck “the boss” Matt confronted Tawnee and threatened that he would make sure that we would be kicked out of any auctions that he works at if we try to attend.  Visit our website for more details.
What are we going to do about this?
We are going to have a protest at Roseville Livestock Auction on the next horse auction day Dec 9th. We are inviting you to stand with us. It is just wrong to kick out an animal welfare organization from a public auction when we are just trying to help the animals.  Now we are calling upon you to please come and stand with us.  This is your chance to make a difference and expose what is happening.  Many of you have your own stories from Roseville livestock auction and we would love to hear them. Please take just one day aside in December for the animals, we are their voice. In the past we have saved 25 horses from Roseville Livestock Auction and now just because they believe we are hurting their business (somehow) they are not allowing us to save any more horses. We must confront this bad decision on their part and make them realize that the animals come first not the money.

 Please come, we need you.

Our New Blog

We have a blog now! We have become so busy here at NER rescuing equines, transporting them to safety, volunteer days and caring for the equines that we are having a hard time keeping everyone updated to what NER has been doing.  When we send out our enews updates there is just no way we can put everything NER does in one enews, so we now have a blog that we can easily keep updated anywhere anytime. We are planning on posting at least three times a week.  Please check out our blog and subscribe to it.
Unfortunately we will no longer be sending E-news whenever a new horse becomes available, we simply do not have the resources to put out new e-news every week, so subscribe to our blog and you will know the day to day workings of Norcal Equine Rescue!  We will continue to send out enews whenever interesting, exciting, or big news happens or if we need your help!  Hopefully about once a month we will send out an enews.

The Horses!

We currently have 38 horses in our rescue program! That is to many horses to send out in this e-news. Please visit our website for pictures and info on our horses: www.SaveTheHorse.com
Please consider adopting one of our horses, give them a chance, and we will have room for another horse that is waiting to be saved right now.
So far this year we have shattered all previous rescue records and are responsible for saving 183 equines! That's a total of 342 equines saved since NER started rescuing horses in 2003. Where would all those horses be if we had not been there to save them?  Thanks to people like you, this has been a dream come true for many horses in need.  We could not have done this without your support, and with dozens of horses entering our program monthly, we need your continued support more than ever.  Please consider becoming a monthly sponsor and help us help the horses!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We, the staff of NER, wish to give you a special thanksgiving thanks for all the help, support and encouragement we have been given this year.  Often we wondered where the next load of hay would come from, but we are thankful that we have been able to make the huge impact on the horse community that we have.  A special thanks to Shirley for putting thousands of hours of work towards saving hundreds of horses from certain death in the slaughter house.  Thanks to Rob and Dina of Animal Planet, Darlene and Mona (and the rest of the Ride Your Horse staff) for making our trip to LA and being on Animal Planet such a wonderful experience.  Thanks to Claire for the many hours of phone calls doing adoption applications and transporting.  Many thanks to Deb for having the courage to hop on the new horses.  Thanks to Kimmy, Annette and friends for keeping our stables clean.  A Giant Thank You! to all of our donors, supporters and adopters.

Thank you President Bush for pardoning a couple turkeys this year.  Please pardon all horses, and save them from slaughter, instead of just a couple turkeys.  You can do it!
