2/16/2006 ~ Vol. 2, Issue 5

Hello NorCal Equine Rescue Friends:
Our main rescue is back up and running until next fall despite the fresh snow last night.
Our fundraising is going good, we have raised $
19,660, and have a mere $5,340 left to raise. We know that "If every one does what they can then  much will be accomplished."
In this issue:
  • Blondie Arrives on Valentines.
  • Must Raise only $5,340 Before February 23rd.
  • Staff Member Of The Month

Blondie Arrives on Valentines.

Blondie is a 14.3 hands, 15 years old, Quarter Horse, NER # 199.  We believe that her coloring would be a chocolate palomino or silver sorrel. She has a grayish mane-tail and chocolaty color on her muzzle and eyes.  She a very sweet horse, but a little shy of new people. She is trained to ride and would be good for an experienced rider.  She is not a bad or untrained horse, but she is just such that she would be enjoyed by a more experienced rider.  She is the type of horse that enjoys action, and is very responsive to your direction.
She was rescued a couple years ago by the Plumas County District Attorney from horrible living conditions, and over the course of time has come to be with us.

Adoption Fee: $950 - Currently Available

We Must Raise Just $5,340 Before February 23rd.

Our fundraising went very well on Sunday at Tractor Supply in Oroville.  Over the weekend, we raised over $2000 to use towards the down payment. We were going to be on the Television, but when the station was editing our tape, their machine malfunctioned and ruined the tape.  But at least we have been on many radio stations and in many newspapers around northern California.

Fortunately, there is a slight delay in the escrow, giving us more time to raise funds.  The closing date is now tentatively for the 23rd of this month.

Only 8 more days! Your Donation Will Help! You can mail it to: NorCal Equine Rescue - P.O. Box 258 - Taylorsville, CA 95983 or our paypal email is: donations@savethehorse.com - Thank-You So Much!

Staff Member Of The Month

This month, Shari Creason is our staff member of the month.  Shari originally adopted one of our horses in 2004 and again in May of 2005.  Jason and Tawnee Preisner (founders) learned more about Shari through the adoption and decided that Shari would be a valuable person to have on their team. Shari become a board member to assist NER with Fundraising and Advertising.  Shari’s work background is all office related and she excels in computer and business related duties. Shari organized 2 events for NER in 2005 and has many planned for 2006.
In January the board of directors voted to employ Shari as our first salaried employee, being paid for half time although she works an average of 7-9 hours a day.  She has worked to promote our efforts with the newspapers, television, and has been on several radio stations getting the message out to our supporters.  The ranch efforts have been a labor of love for Shari and she is hoping that this month will be twice as special for her, not only to give her credit as our staff member of the month but also as someone who has worked very hard to make the ranch a reality.  Please consider making a donation to the down payment efforts to show her how much her hard work is appreciated.

Shari's earliest horse experience was with a pony named Smokey.  “Smokey was a little pony that was on our property that was unpredictable at best.  My sister and cousin got tired of me bugging them so they decided to teach me a lesson and proceeded to tie me to the saddle.  The rest is history, the thrill was there, it was in my blood.
"I have been a horse lover my entire life, and my husband Tim and I decided to move to Oroville and let our children enjoy the country lifestyle and experience the responsibility and commitment that is required of any good pet owner.”  Tim works for WV Alton in Marysville and fully supports Shari in her rescue work.  Staci (12) Molli (7) and JT (6) all attend Feather River Adventist school and have daily chores feeding, watering, grooming and loving the horses.  Shari’s favorite horse is a Palomino QH, but after meeting and fostering Jenny the mini donkey, she has fallen in love with a new equine breed!

Thanks for your support and please consider opening your home to one of our equines!
