A New Ranch |
We have secured a long term lease on 9
acres of beautiful property in the Oroville, CA area. We used the $25,000.00
that you helped us raise earlier this year for our new ranch. The ranch was just bare land, but we
already have a well in and will begin fencing soon. There is so much to do,
and
we will all be very hard at work to get this new ranch up and running by spring
2007. Our entire staff will be working hard to get it were the horses can be
moved out there safely and comfortably. Due to this, we have chosen to suspend
our business hours of 9:00 am to 2:00 pm so we can be free to transport horses,
do fencing, etc without causing undue grief to visitors who wish to visit us. We
will, of course, still be very happy to take appointments, and we will be
working as hard as ever to rescue equines (over 70 this year so far!) and adopt
them into loving homes. Our staff just feels that it would be unfair to attempt
to promise to be here every day when our days are so full of work between the
two properties.
The primary reason we have chosen not to remain at our temporary location is we
do not have enough room for the number of equine we rescue at a time. With only
3 acres, housing 15+ equine is very difficult and we would like to be able to
expand the number of equine we can have on our ranch at any given
time. Many times while we have been here we have had to turn equines away
because we simply do not have the room. This breaks our hearts, and we look
forward with joy to the day we can have 9 acres of land for them to roam on.
We are in need of donations to provide the equines the best
possible living quarters. Our long term goals include a large barn with at
least 12 stalls, a large hay barn, pasture shelters, etc. Our immediate
needs are donations for fencing and shelters for the equines and an adequate
10x25 hay barn. If you would like to donate please
contact us.
You were all so supportive for the
initial purchase of the land, and we still need your support to continue the
operation. Please make the equines new years dreams come true! |

Cowboy |
Cowboy
is doing super well! We visited him last Thursday and his recovery is close to
miraculous. His foster home has provided him with love, care, and the hoof
treatment
that he needs. As we are most interested in the long term well being of the
animals in our care, and not just getting the most money we can from each
animal, we have decided to make Cowboys placement permanent with his foster
family and they will adopt him for our immediate costs we have in him. They are
an absolute best match and we feel it would be unfair to Cowboy to take him from
the family he loves and trusts, and place him with another family. We realize
that the plan was to hold a fund raising auction (to approved adopters) for
Cowboy, but we would rather Cowboy be happy than use him for a fundraiser. We do
what we know is best for each animal in our care, and we are glad that Cowboy
has found his permanent home. |

News |
| We have chosen to stop our business
hours of 9:00 am to 2:00 pm starting 12-17-06, so we can get our new ranch
up and going ASAP. We will still be very happy to take appointments for
adoptions etc. We will be having
plenty of opportunity for volunteer work. If you are interested in helping us
get set up for the equines, please contact us and we will be happy to have some
more muscles. Many hands make light work.
We unfortunately were unable to attend
Decembers livestock auction as we still had too many equines on our property. We
are planning on attending next month.
We would like to take this time to thank the following: Sally Hugg of
www.bare-hooftrim.com, Phil Morarre's of
www.softouchnaturalhorsecare.com and Rhiannon
Fugutt for coming out to our rescue
facility
and donating all their time and hard work to trim almost all of our horses
hooves in one day! We greatly appreciate their
support of helping us
keep our horses hooves in the best possible shape. Sally has been donating her time for about a year now and it has been
a big blessing for us and the horses. We can't thank them enough for helping us
out so much! Visit their websites and please drop them a not and thank them for
helping us too! |
