New Arrivals

Bombers Express is a 11 year old, 16.2 hand, black, Standardbred, gelding, NER # 233. Bomber is a very sweet guy that loves to be loved on. In March 2002 he was rescued from the race track (Cal Expo - harness racing) by a very loving couple. They never rode him, but were told that he was ridden occasionally at the track. We have ridden him on some trail rides and he did very well. He thinks about new things and reacts calmly.  He is VERY friendly, curious, gentle and just all-round a big love. We want to keep Bomber and Lassen together their adoption fee is $1000.00 together.  Adoption Fee: $850 - Status: Available

Lassen is a 15 year old, 15 hand, Quarter Horse, mare, NER # 234.
She is very sweet in spite of what someone has done to her. She has been abused at some point in her life. Her tongue has a scar going all the way across and most of the way through. She has what the vets refer to as "metabolic syndrome" She takes a thyroid supplement on a daily basis. She also lactates although she hasn't had a foal in at least 5 years. We have ridden her and she did very well, even though she has not been ridden for several years.
We want to keep Lassen and Bomber together their adoption fee is $1000.00 together.

Adoption Fee: $550 - Status: Available For Adoption

Bomber & Lassen's owners had to move and sadly had to leave their babies with us, so we could find them a new loving home. It was very hard for their owners to give them up and they will miss them greatly. Lassen & Bomber have been together for 5 years and we want to keep Lassen and Bomber together if possible. Their adoption fee is $1000.00 together. Please open your home to these sweet horses.
Little Apache is a 2 year old, 12.2 hand, POA, gelding, NER # 235.   Apache is a very cute little guy, but he has been badly abused. He was rescued about 4 months ago from a life of horror and terror by a wonderful lady who was hoping to train him to be a pony pal for her 4 year old girl. She had to give him up because sadly one of Apache's problems is that he charges little kids! We believe that he has been unmercifully beaten by little kids. He is fine with adults and older kids, but somehow he feels very threatened by little kids. He is very sweet and wants to be loved. He needs lots of TLC and he will be as good as new.  If you have time for this sweet little guy, please give him a home. Adoption Fee: $350 - Status: Available
Sunny is a 8 year old, 15.1 hand, Arabian, gelding, 700 lbs. NER # 236.   We have known about Sunny for 5 months now. It all started as we where driving down a road and couldn't help but notice a beautiful well fed Arabian in a pen that had always been empty before. We where on that road about once a month. The next time we drove by his pen, to our horror we saw that he had lost a lot of weight. We decided to give it another month to see how he would be doing then, maybe he had been sick and was recovering. The next time we saw him he had lost a lot more weight. We contacted Animal Control and they said that they would take care of it. But nothing happened ... The rest of the story can be found on Sunny's web page Click Here For The Story
Mel's Best is a 12 year old, 16.1 hand, Standardbred, stallion, NER # 237. He was harness racing and winning only a few weeks ago. But younger faster horses were coming to his stable and he had already won 66 races and $500,000 so it was time for him to move on and give his stall to another. We picked him up at the Cal Expo and had a wonderful time watching him trot around the track, you could see it in his eyes, he loved it! But those glory days are now behind him. He is sound and has been ridden, but his love is and always will be pulling a cart around and remembering his days of glory. Adoption Fee: $500
Crisco is a 15 year old, 14.2 hand, Mustang, gelding, NER # 238.
Crisco is a sweet guy that has just come off of a dude string just a couple of weeks ago. The reason the dude ranch had to get rid of him is he was to hard to catch. We have worked with him and he is getting better about it.  He is very easy to ride, a great beginners horse or little kids horse. He likes to walk along calmly and quietly, but you can encourage him to a trot. He is very scared of whips and will kick at it out of fear. Adoption Fee: $650 - Status: Available For Adoption
Stitches is a 10 month old, 13 hand, Arabian Mule, molly, NER #239.   Stitches is a real sweety, that loves to race around. She knows how to lead and is learning to tie. She was owned by a young lady who was moving and could no longer keep her. Stitches will make a great mule for packing, riding, carting, etc. when she grows up.
She has a beautiful body and a refined head. She's a real beauty, she's just drop dead gorgeous!   With time Stitches will some day be an awesome mule. She has never been abused, so she loves people and has been around people since she was born.

Adoption Fee: $750 - Status: Available For Adoption
Beth is a 13 year old, 14.3 hand, Morgan/Quarter Horse, mare, NER # 240. Beth is a sweet horse but is a little mischievous and a little testing too. We have ridden her in the round pen and she did ok but needs some work. She saddles and bridles like an old pro. She just needs some more training. If you leave her in the round pen alone she starts bouncing up and down with her front legs.  She's a very curious girl and wants to be with someone all the time.  She is really pretty, frisky and lively.
Adoption Fee: $350 - Status: Available For Adoption
Whiley is a 11 year old, 16 hand, Appaloosa, gelding, NER # 241.
Whiley is a sweet guy that is easy to work with. He is trained to ride and does good on the trail. He did want to leave Beth behind to much, but with some encouragement he did ok. He has been just sitting around for awhile and needs some time out riding. A year ago or so Whiley was used in a dude string and got pretty thin. He is a good boy that just needs a home were he can be loved and ridden.
Adoption Fee:
$850 - Status: Available For Adoption
Beth & Whiley have been with us since July 3rd. They both were abandon by their owner. A caring couple where feeding the horses so they where in pretty good condition. We worked with the county and impounded both of the horses. Soon after their owner contacted us and wanted their horses back, we informed the owner that they would need to call the District Attorney's office and talk with them. They did so, but when they learned that they where going to have to pay impound fees, boarding fees, transporting fees, etc, they quickly lost all interest in their horses and never made contact with anyone again. We had to keep the horses for 30 days and then the county was able to give us a letter of abandonment and that gave us the right to place these horses into new homes. We are looking for a home out of Plumas County.

Adoption Pending

Hart is a 4 year old, Quarter Horse, mare, NER # 208. She was one of the horses from the feedlot in Nevada. She was adopted in May with Hay Babe, but sadly the adoption didn't work out and she were given back to our rescue along with Hay Babe. Hart has lost weight since she was adopted, but she is a lot friendlier then when she was adopted, she now leads, is easy to catch, saddles, bridles, and is a very sweet and mellow mare. We believe she lost weight due to nursing Hay Babe.  She is now green broke and has been ridden by adults and children. Hart seem to be a very lazy horse that doesn't like to go faster then a walk. Our vet checked her out and doesn't know why she does not enjoy trotting, it seem to be just the way she is.  Adoption Fee: $600
Hay Babe "Babe" is a 2 1/2 month old, tall, buckskin, Quarter Horse, filly, NER # 213. She is a very cute and feisty little girl. She was born at our rescue instead of being a slaughterhouse byproduct. Babe's mommy Hart was going to be sent to a slaughterhouse while she was still pregnant, but thankfully we were able to save her. Hart is very protective of her and would not allow anyone to get near her until about a month ago, so Hay Baby was a wild girl. Hart is more relaxed about people now, so Babe is becoming a friendly gal too. She loves to run, jump, rear, spin and goof off. She will make a wonderful Gymkhana, reining or cutting horse when she grows up.

Adoption Fee: $600 - Status: Adoption Pending
Remington is a 12 year old, 14.1 hand, Quarter Horse / Tennessee Walker, gelding, NER # 229. Remmy is a sweet guy that really has a lot of energy and loves barrel racing. Remmy needs a very experienced rider that can handle a very energetic horse. He is well trained and obedient, just he's a lot of horse to handle. His biggest problem is he spins when you are trying to mount him. He is easy to catch, saddle, bridle, leads, ties, stands for the farrier and was good for the vet. Remmy's navicular issue is under control, our vet recommended that we have him shoed with pads and now Remmy is doing great.

Adoption Fee: $850 - Status: Available For Adoption
Cowboy is a 9 year old, 15 hand, Kiger Mule, gelding, NER # 226. Cowboy is a sweet guy that loves to be messed with. He is trained for riding, carting and packing. Cowboy is still lame after a month of TLC. Our vet has taken x-rays on 2 different occasions and found nothing. Cowboy's coffin bone has not rotated, so founder is pretty much out of the picture now and by one month his hooves should be fine if they where trimmed too sort. We are going to give him another week on meds and hope that it will help, if not, we will be looking at possible surgical options. Cowboy is in rehabilitation status until his lameness issues are under control. Status: Rehabilitation

In loving memory of Robert and Louise Krume, we have been able to upgrade our truck & trailer. Our old trailers were a leased 3 horse slant and an older 4 horse stock trailer, witch greatly limited the amount of equines we were able to rescue at one time. Our leased truck had over 200k miles on it and was slowing down with each rescue.
Now we are able to lease a new 2006 Chevrolet Silverado Diesel and purchase a new 24' FeatherLite that can easily carry 10 equines. We are very grateful for the large donation made in loving memory of Robert and Louise Krume. Thanks to them, many equines will be able to live a life of happiness and peace.

We have been really busy this last month delivering adopted equines, picking up and working with our new arrivals. We were so busy that we were unable to keep our website updated and we are truly sorry about that. We were also unable to go to this month's auction due to our stalls and pens overflowing with equines needing homes. We are planning on going to the September auction and filling our new horse trailer up with poor, frightened equines and give them a new life of happiness.

We have been looking a rental to rent for this winter or a property to buy. As winter is coming near our fears begin to rise. At our current location we are leasing now we get snowed and/or flooded in during the winter and we are unable to rescue horses during that time. Last winter we boarded our equines in the Oroville area and adopted them out from down there. The winter before Vice
President Tawnee Preisner's rescued horse Gypsy slipped in the snow and broke his hip and had to be put down. After that Tawnee said that there would never be any more horses at our current location in the winter.
We must find a place ASAP, a place that doesn't get snow. If you know of a place, please let us know.

Our website is updated - Enjoy!

Thank you for supporting our rescue efforts and please consider opening your home to one of our equines!
