Our Equines

Hart is a 4 year old, Quarter Horse, mare, NER # 208. She was one of the horses from the feedlot in Nevada. She was adopted in May with Hay Babe, but sadly the adoption didn't work out and she were given back to our rescue along with Hay Babe. Hart has lost weight since she was adopted, but she is a lot friendlier then when she was adopted, she now leads, is easy to catch, saddles, bridles, and is a very sweet and mellow mare. We believe she lost weight due to nursing Hay Babe.  She is now green broke and has been ridden by adults and children. Hart seem to be a very lazy horse that doesn't like to go faster then a walk. Our vet checked her out and doesn't know why she does not enjoy trotting, it seem to be just the way she is. Hart is a available for adoption with Hay Babe.
Hay Babe "Babe" is a 2 1/2 month old, tall, buckskin, Quarter Horse, filly, NER # 213. She is a very cute and feisty little girl. She was born at our rescue instead of being a slaughterhouse byproduct. Babe's mommy Hart was going to be sent to a slaughterhouse while she was still pregnant, but thankfully we were able to save her. Hart is very protective of her and would not allow anyone to get near her until about a month ago, so Hay Baby was a wild girl. Hart is more relaxed about people now, so Babe is becoming a friendly gal too. She loves to run, jump, rear, spin and goof off. She will make a wonderful Gymkhana, reining or cutting horse when she grows up.

Adoption Fee: $600 Hart and Hay Babe together - Status: Available For Adoption
Blue Thunder Cody's Inky N.T.A. "Inkey"  is a 13 year old, 11.2 hand, registered Shetland Pony, NER # 225. She is very cute and sweet little girl that loves to be groomed and loved on. Her hooves were very long the vet and farrier thinks they were about 6 inches long! Who ever took the sweet little girl to the auction gave her a very short drastic trim for her to look more presentable for the sale.
Our farrier has done some corrective trimming on her to make her more comfortable and she is getting used to walking normally again.
She has also been seen by our vet and he does not believe that she has any founder.
   Adoption Fee: $500 -
Status: Available For Adoption
Cowboy is a 9 year old, 15 hand, Kiger Mule, gelding, NER # 226. Cowboy is a sweet guy that loves to be messed with. He is trained for riding, carting and packing.
Cowboy has some lameness issues that we are checking out. He has been seen by our vet and farrier. Our vet has taken x-rays and did not see anything wrong at this time, we will take more x-rays later. We believe we have limited the lameness issues down to two things. Either recent foundering or Cowboy was trimmed too short. Cowboy is in rehabilitation status until his lameness issues are under control.
   Status: Rehabilitation
Blueberry "Bluey" is a 6 year old, 14 hand, Percheron/Quarter Horse, mare, NER # 227. Bluey is a very sweet horse that is trained to ride and we were told that she was used for logging. She would make a wonderful beginner's horse, she is very easy to ride. She's an easy keeper, saddles, bridles, leads, ties, grooms, and is a very good girl. She was raised and worked in the mountains and is mountain savvy.
Bluey is a playful and energetic horse when she's not being ridden, but as soon as she is tacked up, she gets down to business and is very obedient and well-trained. Our vet gave her a good bill of health.  She is a dominate mare to other equine.

Adoption Fee: $1000 - Status: Available For Adoption
Toledo is a 3 year old, 14.2 hand, Appendix Quarter Horse, gelding, NER # 228. Toledo is a very sweet, calm and gentle boy that just loves attention. Toledo loves children, he loves to watch them play and loves to be played with by them.  He is always standing by the gate waiting for somebody to walk by and talk to him. He is trained to ride and is a good beginners horse. He is very easy to catch, saddle, bridle, leads, tie, stands for the farrier and was wonderful for the vet.
He is underweight and is recovering from a cough and a runny nose. Our vet checked him out and said that he is well on is way to a full recovery.

Status: Available For Adoption
Remington "Remmy" is a 12 year old, 14.1 hand, Quarter Horse / Tennessee Walker, gelding, NER # 229. Remmy is a sweet guy that really has a lot of energy and loves barrel racing. Remmy needs a very experienced rider that can handle an energetic horse. He is will trained and obedient, just he's a lot of horse to handle. His biggest problem is he spins when you are trying to mount him. He is easy to catch, saddle, bridle, leads, tie, stands for the farrier and was good for the vet. Remmy has a little navicular in his front hooves that our vet recommended that we have him shoed with pads and he thinks that it will clear up. Remmy is in rehabilitation status until his navicular issue is under control.

Status: Rehabilitation
Chief is a 9 year old, 14.1 hand, Paint, gelding, NER # 230. Chief is a very loving guy that is very well trained. He can be rode with only a rope around his neck, he'll stop, back up, and turn both ways easily. He is always ready to come out of his pen to be messed with. He is trained to ride and is a very good beginner horse. He is all around an easy boy to work with and has a great personality.  He is very easy to catch, saddle, bridle, leads, tie, stands for the farrier and was great for the vet.
Chief may possibly have some lameness issue with his front right shoulder/leg/hoof. Our vet was unable to find any problems. When we got him, he seemed to have some soreness, but we have not seen it since then.  We will continue to monitor his condition and update the website accordingly.

Adoption Fee: $850 - Status: Available For Adoption
Apache is a 8 year old, 15.1 hand, Paint, Gelding, NER # 231. Apache is a sweet guy that is very beautiful as well. He has 1 blue eye and 1 brown eye, his coloration is very striking. Apache is a friendly horse that loves to be talked to. He is well trained to ride and would be good for an intermediate rider. When you first get on him he's a little prancey, but after a little bit he calms down and relaxes again. He is really a jewel of a horse and will make some lucky person a beautiful ride. He is very easy to catch, saddle, bridle, leads, tie, stands for the farrier and was good boy for the vet.  Apache was given a good bill of health from our vet, but he needs some weight. He is ready to adopted into a loving home.
Adoption Fee:
$1200 -
Status: Available For Adoption
Pistol is a 7 year old, 14.3 hand, beautiful Quarter Horse, mare NER # 232. Pistol is a very pretty and sweet horse. She does have behavioral issues that need to be worked on. She is really pushy and needs to be ground started again, to learn proper manners. She does ride but really just needs time and love put into her. She will make a wonderful trail horse some day, but for right now she needs someone that has times for her schooling. She is very easy to catch, saddle, bridle, leads, is ok for the farrier but she has to be sedated to have her back hooves shoed, she is fine for trimming and is fine without back shoes.

News

Have you picked up a Ride! or Western Times magazine this month? If you have not, you better go get one before it's too late! In both magazines you will find different articles about our rescue and about the founders of our rescue. Both Ride! and Western Times editors did interviews with Jason and Tawnee Preisner the founders for NorCal Equine Rescue. You will find these articles fascinating. Read the Ride! magazine to learn more about our young founders and find out how our rescue came to be NorCal Equine Rescue, saving and finding homes for over 130 equines in the last 4 years. This year we have already saved over 40 equines. Go get your magazine today and learn more about us.
We want to thank everyone who helped us raise the funds to ordered the microchips and scanner, they will be here any day now. So now each equine that comes into our rescue will be microchipped and will be traceable throughout it's life. We will also be scanning equines at auctions in search of missing or stolen equines. We hope that we may be able to help unite missing or stolen equines back to their rightful families and watch the tears of happiness as they are united once again. We want to encourage you to get your pets microchipped, it could be a life or death matter. It doesn't cost that much and your pets are worth it. For more information on microchipping your equine go to www.AvidEquineid.com and learn more now or contact your veterinarian.
We are still discussing freeze branding our rescued equines as well, but it looks like it may be next year before this ID program is put into place.

Thank you for supporting our rescue efforts and please consider opening your home to one of our equines!
