Tory, Mo, Joey, Cody and Dude Are Now Available For Adoption

Cody is a 7 year old, Peruvian Paso, gelding, 14 hands, NER# 210.     Cody  is a very sweet guy and just loves to be groomed and loved on. He is green broke and just needs time in the saddle. He is very smooth and will make a wonderful riding horse. He was started under saddle as a 3 year old then his owner lost interest and turned him out to pasture. Later he was sold to a beginner who needed a well trained horse, it was not the right match and she donated him to us so that through his adoption fee more horses maybe saved.
Cody is truly a lovely horse that will be a smooth ride for some lucky person!

Adoption Fee:
$
800
Jongleur "Joey" is a 12 year old, 16.2 hand, bay, gelding, registered Swedish Warmblood and also in the American Horse Show Association and a lifetime registration with the United States Dressage Federation, NER# 211. He is a very sweet, beautiful boy and has been very well trained in dressage. His former owner was unable to keep him due to her heavy show schedule.  Joey will do best with a light rider/pleasure riding no more than 3 x per week.  He is a pleasure to be around.  He is not aggressive with other horses, however due to his size he needs to have a firm handler that will brush him up on some basic ground manners.
  Adoption Fee: $
700
Dude is a 4 year old, Chocolate Silver, Pony of America, gelding, NER # 197.  Dude needs a lot of work as he has been abused and neglected. He needs lots of love and confidence building. He is green broke and needs a lot of love and time. He has come out of rehabilitation and is ready to be placed into a loving home, however due to criminal charges pending on his previous owner, Dude will be monitored for evidence against his previous owner.
Adoption Fee: $250
Tory is a 4 year old, 14.2 hand, Appendix Quarter Horse, mare, NER # 206. She is warming up quickly to our trainer. She has beautiful markings, a connected star and stripe that looks like a Tornado and so we named her "Tory" from her face marking.  She also has 4 socks. She is available for adoption only to be adopted with her baby Mo.

Mo is a very cute little guy that was born March 16th, NER # 207. Mo has almost the same markings as his mommy but his leg markings are much higher then his mommy's, we believe that his sire was a Paint and gave him his high leg markings. He is a shy little guy but is warming up just fine. He is available for adoption only to be adopted with his mommy Tory.

$600 as a p

Zoro Has Been Adopted!!

After months of rehabilitation, we knew it was time for Zoro to find his new forever home.  We set the date of April 9, 2006 for his adoption day.  We accepted many applications to adopt him, and they were all invited out to Wade arena to meet and interact with him.  We all went to Wade Arena with mixed feelings, sad that the day had come to place him with a new home, but also joy that our mission was completed and another animal was saved due to our efforts.  Everyone was given the opportunity to ride him; he had many different riders, the staff, potential adopters, and the children of our staff.  He behaved like a dream, letting the smaller riders go double with grown ups, or letting them be placed on his back and gently walking around.  He still shows some signs of gait issues that should continue to improve with time, and showed his potential adopters the special horse that he is.   By 2:00 pm it was decided who would be the lucky adopters that got to call him their very own.  We send our congratulations to one of his sponsors Tamara Patton of Janesville.
We thank all the sponsors who so generously donated to help with his medical care, Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund who so graciously donated the funds for his surgery, The office and staff of Look Ahead Veterinarian, and to Lynda Wade of Wade Arena and the many staff of Wade arena for their care and expertise during his months of rehab.  Zoro once had a life that was doomed to slaughter, now he has a bright and shining future with hours of trail rides and lots of love ahead of him.

News

The staff of NER have been very busy taming and working with all the untrained horses in our care and getting them ready to be adopted into their forever homes.  We also have 2 local trainers working with us as well. The round pen has been in use a lot and desperately needed sand. It was becoming unsafe to train the horses in the round pen. Shari started calling sand yards and ranches in hopes that some sand could be donated and we would like to thank the Riverside Rock for donating 10 yards of sand, Wilburn Construction Inc. for delivering the sand to NER and to Neff Family Ranch for pledging to donate sand and to deliver it when the weather gets better.

We are very grateful for the donated use of a 23 acre pasture about 15 miles from our rescue. We are very thankful for this as we still have not found our forever rescue
facility. It is really sad having to turn horses in need away because we simply do not have the space or funds to take in more equines. We are looking forward to soon finding that perfect future rescue facility.

We have continued our search for the "Lorna May Safe Haven Ranch" but as of yet we have not found it. We are going to start looking from the Chico to Red Bluff area. Our biggest problem is that mortgage interest rates are too high. We have $25,000 for the down payment and the Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund can pay about $1500 a month on the mortgage. What we really need to do is to find someone who could buy the property, and sell it to Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund then carry the note so Tazzy Fund could make it's $1500 a month payments, or a seller who would be willing to carry the note. If you know if any 10 + acres for $250,000 or less in the Chico to Red Bluff area or would like to
volunteer to look through realtor websites, ebay, etc. please let us know, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hart and Moon Light are holding out on having their babies, as we are learning
patience. We will be sending birth announcements as soon as the babies arrive.

As many of you know we have been busy rehabilitating our Willits horses and another chapter of their journey is just beginning.  On April 27, 2006, Shari will be traveling to Willits to testify in the preliminary hearing for criminal charges against their former owner.  She was subpoenaed to testify and we have faith that the court system will make sure that the horror that these horses have been through, will not be in vain.  There are other volunteers that have been closely involved that will also be testifying and we are so thankful that our volunteers are willing to put themselves on the line to make sure that the voices of these horses are heard.  Please pray for our staff and volunteers as this process can be quite stressful.  We appreciate your concern and caring for these horses and now the time to show your support of Shari and our volunteers will make all the difference.

Thanks for your support and again please consider opening your home to one of our equines!
