$6.00 Hay Drive
We have been hunting, looking and trying to find the
cheapest source of good quality hay possible this
spring, and we have finally found it, but we have to get
some help. 4 miles from our rescue about 1000
bales of nice heavy grass hay is available, and the
grower is willing to sell it to us for only $6 a
bale, but here's the catch: we have to write a check for
it early this week. Otherwise he will just move it
into his barns and sell it later for more, it is of
little difference to him. This is a huge
opportunity to get a summer supply of hay for right
about half price. During the winter we have been
paying upwards of $13.50 a bale, then it dropped to $10
a bale and with our last load our supplier let us know
it was going back up to $11 a bale. We need to
raise $6000 for the hay, plus $250 to get it moved.
Even if you have never donated, if everyone donated just
$6 it would fill the thermometer right up! That
everyone includes you! Please help
us feed the rescued horses however you can, we
understand that not everyone has an extra $6 right now,
so if you can give more, please do so! Together we
can make it happen!
At our current feeding costs, $6000 would only last
about 3 months, but this load would last about 5-6
months, depending on how many rescued horses we are
feeding..
We got a bale of hay from our two choices, we have the option of
$5.50 a bale hay or the $6.00 a bale hay, but the $6.00
a bale is significantly heavier, it's higher quality,
but more importantly, the horses like it better.
We put the two choices about 100 feet apart in one of
our larger pens, and the horses chose the $6 bale.
This is what the hay looks like in the field, we will be
getting two of these stacks with your help!
