Hay Barn

We have some very exciting news, all the needed funds for the hay barn have been raised! We had been working very hard fundraising for the much needed hay barn and had raised a total of  $2,807 for the barn and something very exciting happened.
There was a couple that wanted to come see the rescue so they flew in to Sacramento this Tuesday (the 23rd) for a visit. They enjoyed visiting all the horses and after walking around we all sat down under the shade maker to do some visiting. There were a few words exchanged about the hay barn when to
our utter shock, amazement and disbelief $10,000 cash was on our picnic table. The hay barn is a reality! This is the largest cash donation ever made to Norcal at one time, we cannot thank the anonymous donors enough for their generosity. The additional funds are to be used wherever needed most.
The hay barn was ordered today and should be here in about 3 to 4 weeks. Now we need to start working hard to have everything ready for when it arrives.

 Petfinder Voting Contest

A note from Tawnee: As most of you know Petfinder was having a contest to see which rescues could get the most votes. The top 2 most voted for rescues would receive $5,000.00 each. I sent out an email asking you to please vote for us.  I would like to thank each one for voting for us, it was so fun watching the contest until sadly the voting system was hacked and Petfinder had to close the contest. I know that hundreds of you sent out emails to family and friends and asked them to vote too. I ready appreciate all of you doing what you could to help us win the $5,000.00. Petfinder made the right choice I believe in closing the contest, it was not fair when all the hackers took control.
Again I want thank you all for your dedication and support. - Tawnee

Auction Rescue

October 12th auction. - For the October rescue we are going to be selling some excess tack to help save some horses lives.  We have quite an excess of blankets and other tack that will sell for a significant amount of money at the tack auction.  The livestock auction we rescue horses at has a tack auction before the horses are auctioned. It's time to clean out our tack rooms and help save horses at the same time.  We can always use more tack to sell, so please donate your extra new or used tack and we will take it to the auction.  Your unwanted tack can save horse's lives.
Please send your unwanted tack to: NorCal Equine Rescue - P.O. Box 6108 - Oroville, CA 95966

   With the
last funds raised for saving horses from auctions we were able to save 18 horses and did this with $5,000.00 in donations!  Since March of this year, when we started fundraising to save horses from livestock auctions, we have rescued 141 horses from auctions. Our donation goal this month is $3,500.00 for the rescue and care of the auction horses.  With the extra tack we are taking down we should have sufficient funds to rescue as many horses as we have room for.
   It is
very important the killer buyers leave with empty horse trailers. The killer buyers are driving long distances to the auctions and then thanks to your support, they are forced to drive home with empty trailers. With the high price of fuel we know that it is hurting them. Please help us save more horses from the fate of the killer buyers!

Note: As you generously donated more funds than our goal for the last auction, $1362 of the match from All Road Communications has been transferred from last months donations into this month's rescue.

Here are pictures of the last rescue, 18 equines were saved with the auction funds!

Horses Needing Homes

We rescue a lot of horses to save them from the brutality of the slaughter industry.  With the hard economical times it is becoming harder and harder to place horses that are older, have lameness, untrained to ride, etc. into homes.  Please consider adopting one of these precious horses into your family, if you can not adopt a horse you can still help spread the word. Help us got these horses into loving, forever homes.
