News

So much has happened since our last e-news was sent out in December 2007. It's a new year with new horses to save! Last year we saved 234 equines, a huge record for us!!  29 equines donated, 2 equine strays, 190 equines that were slaughter bound and 6 from auctions and 7 from animal control. Since we started rescuing back in 2003 we have saved 436 equines to this date.  Where would all those horses be if it was not for us?  So far this year we have saved  over 40 horses that desperately needed to be saved, most were saved from being slaughtered.
We are now going to be sending e-news's out quarterly instead of  monthly, this saves time and less time on the computer means more time with the horses. We have also had a lot of changes to our website this year.
We have a blog that is updated (usually) on a daily basis. This is another reason why the e-news will be sent out quarterly. Now our blog is the best way to keep up with what we are doing, what horses are being saved and which ones are heading to their new forever homes.  If you are looking for a horse, the horses are placed in the blog first, so that is the best way to find your new rescued horse.  This blog is a daily diary of the happenings of NER. Another neat feature with our blog is that we have a feed that goes to our main home page. That way all you have to do is go to our website www.SaveTheHorse.com and you will be able to read the last two blog entries. Make us your home page and read along day by day.
We have a new look for the available equine page. It is powered by Petfinder and it cuts out a lot of time having to update our website, making pages for each of the horses and then updating Petfinder too. Now all we have to do is update Petfinder with the horses and it’s automatically updated on our website too. Our available horses can also be sorted by age, breed, gender, size, etc, just click the title's at the top of the columns on the horse section of the available page.
We have a new online store it has many interesting articles for all you horse lovers out there, if the store does good there will be more and more things available. Right now we have app
arel, gifts, hats, bags, stickers, buttons, magnets, and more! Best of all it is not going to take time from the horses, as the items will be drop shipped. When you order some items, the company (Cafepress) will make the item and ship it to you and we will never have to handle the item. You will get it extremely quickly and the horses will benefit from your purchase!
Now you can buy & help save lives!
Click here to go to the NER Store.

We have a new a retirement & rehabilitation program. Equines in this program are ones that have been rescued by our organization and are too old or are unsuitable for adopting into new homes and have been retired or need rehabilitation before they can be adopted into loving homes.
We need at least 4 sponsors for each equine. You can see how many sponsors an equine has by the number of stars under it's picture on our website. Equines in rehabilitation are likely to need more sponsors due to their rehabilitation needs.   For only about $0.84 a day you can be a part of giving a horse the life it deserves. Please consider becoming a sponsor, the horses need  you! Sponsors will receive email updates about  their retired or rehabbed equine. Sponsors will also receive from time to time special items from our store with their equine on it. From pins, magnets, stickers, apparel and more. Just
click here and pick out a horse that needs a sponsor, click on the Sponsor Me button and become a sponsor today, the horses will thank you!

Horses Needing Homes!

Please consider adopting one of our horses, give them a chance at a new life and we will have room for another horse that is waiting to be saved right now.

Help Feed The Horses!

Help us feed the horses!  NER goes through 9 - 15 tons of hay each month and the more horses we rescue the more hay we need. We can get 3 twined hay, grass or alfalfa depending on the needs of the horses, it's up to $13.00 a bale now the absolute cheapest available within driving distance. We are hoping that you will help out by buying a bale or 2 or becoming a "Hay Sponsor" even if it's a bale a month. All you have to do is donate and we'll do all the hard work of getting the hay, bringing it to the ranch and unloading it. You really do have the easy part of this.  Every bale is definitely  needed and will be enjoyed by a rescued horse.  The hay is much cheaper then it is at the feed stores and the more money that is saved from the high prices of hay will help save more horses that are out there just waiting for someone to save them and give them the love they so badly need.
Last spring we were able to get hay for $8.00 then in the summer $9.00 then $10 then $12.00 a bale and now it's up to $13.00 a bale. We buy our hay directly from the hay growers to save money. Let's pray that the price of hay does not keep going up.
