  Episode Information:
Star is a little girl with a rare disability and horseback riding is the perfect therapy. But her mom, Julie, can only afford riding lessons once in a great while. Jarod and Dina help Star realize her dream in the most heartwarming
Petfinder episode yet.

Meet the Family:
Fullerton, Calif., is home to single mom Julie Carless and her two daughters, 11-year-old Allysa and eight-year-old Star. Star has a rare disability called juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, which is causing her bones and joints to deteriorate. It’s painful for her to run and play like other little girls, and the disability has caused other complications, such as slight autism, sensory integration disorder and ligament laxity. One of the best activities she can do to help her body is ride horses. Riding forces her to use all her muscles yet spares her fragile joints the stress of impact. The more Star rides, the healthier she becomes. If Star had her own horse, she could ride anytime. Star has been saving recyclable cans in hopes of redeeming them for a horse, but she needs about 120,000 more cans! Petfinder will help Star get and care for the horse she so desperately needs.
  Mya
Mya was rescued from the NV feedlot with 8 other horses. She was rescued: 9-11-07, if we had not saved her she would have been sent to a slaughterhouse and that would have been the end. Now Mya has a wonderful home and you can watch the whole wonderful story on your TV. Don't miss it!!  This Monday on Animal Planet!

Current Rescue!
There are 17 horses and their owner is planning on sending them to the feedlot and then they will go directly to slaughter.

We can save these horses, but We Can't Do This Without You!

Auction Rescues!
On March 9th we headed to the auction to save as many horses as we could. Thanks to Jennifer G donating $2,000.00 for this rescue we were able to save 12 horses from the auction! That was half of the horses that were at the auction that day.
The next auction is coming up and we would love to be able to save more horses this time! We now have a new page on our website for auction rescues. The auction is once a month so we can fundraise for a month and then raid that auction of the horses once we have funds.  Transporting is negligible since it is only 2 hours from our main ranch.
It was so wonderful to save the horses at the last auction. If we could work together each month and donate what we could it would enable us to save more horses from an unknown future and adopt them into loving homes. Please see this new webpage, any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Horses Needing Homes!

Please consider adopting one of our horses, give them a chance at a new life and we will have room for another horse that is waiting to be saved right now.
We have a lot of really sweet young horses that are needing loving homes. Please consider adopting a younger horse and start doing ground work this summer and partner up for life.

Help Feed The Horses!

Help us feed the horses!  NER goes through 9 - 15 tons of hay each month and the more horses we rescue the more hay we need. We can get 3 twined hay, grass or alfalfa depending on the needs of the horses, it's up to $13.50 a bale now the absolute cheapest available within driving distance. We are hoping that you will help out by buying a bale or 2 or becoming a "Hay Sponsor" even if it's a bale a month. All you have to do is donate and we'll do all the hard work of getting the hay, bringing it to the ranch and unloading it. You really do have the easy part of this.  Every bale is definitely  needed and will be enjoyed by a rescued horse.  The hay is much cheaper then it is at the feed stores and the more money that is saved from the high prices of hay will help save more horses that are out there just waiting for someone to save them and give them the love they so badly need.
Last spring we were able to get hay for $8.00 then in the summer $9.00 then $10 then $12.00 a bale and now it's up to $13.50 a bale. We buy our hay directly from the hay growers to save money. Let's pray that the price of hay does not keep going up.
                        Thank-You!
